It seems as though there is a new diet fad coming out every week, but do any of them really work? If you are one of the many people out there who are struggling with their weight, then you know just how hard and frustrating it can, trying one diet after another, all with no success. Well there is one diet out there now that is relatively new and which claims to get the job done.
This is the bacon and grapefruit diet, and at the first sound of it, you probably would not think that this diet would work at all. After all, isn’t bacon covered in grease and very fattening? Well yes but apparently the bacon and grapefruit work as a combination together and help you to get the weight off.
There is also the fact that on the bacon and grapefruit diet you are literally only eating bacon and grapefruit and then drinking water, so you are able to flush your body of toxins and you are not eating other foods so you are going to drop weight off quickly.
The Problems
Now although the bacon and grapefruit diet may sound great because it works so fast and works on almost everyone who tries it, there are problems with it that you are going to need to be aware of. For one, with the bacon and grapefruit diet you are not eating any vegetables or whole grain breads or cereals, and therefore your body is missing out on vital minerals and nutrients.
This is not at all a healthy diet, and another of the biggest problems with this diet is that once you get off of the diet, you will most likely gain all of the weight that you have just lost back, if not even more. This is obviously a serious downfall, and you just can’t stay on this diet for the long term, because your body cannot live for an extended period of time on just bacon and grapefruit.
Now if you are still interested in starting on this diet, what you are going to want to do is ask your doctor about the bacon and grapefruit diet and see what they have to say about it. They will be able to take a look at you now and see whether or not you are going to be putting yourself at risk by going on this diet.

Avocado and Grapefruit Salad
This is one great grapefruit diet recipe that is sure to become a staple in your home. This is not bacon and grapefruit, and is very easy to make. All you need is 1 ripe avocado, 1 medium pink grapefruit, 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, 1 tablespoon champagne vinegar, ¼ cup olive oil, ½ teaspoon coarsely-ground pink peppercorns, and some salt to taste.
This grapefruit diet recipe for salad is very easy to prepare, and all you have to do is peel and pit the avocado, slice it lengthwise, remove the peel and pith from the grapefruit and cut it into segments. Now you want to arrange in an alternating band on two salad plates, and in a small bowl, whisk together the grapefruit juice and champagne vinegar.
Now in a slow stream you must whisk in the olive oil and season with the pink peppercorns and salt. Drizzle the vinaigrette over the avocado and grapefruit slices, and make sure to serve immediately otherwise it will get soggy and not taste right.
Crab and Pink Grapefruit Salad
Another grapefruit diet recipe that you will surely want to try is this unique recipe for crab and pink grapefruit salad. You will need 2 heads lettuce, 3 pink grapefruits peeled and cut, 1 lb. cooked crab meat, 2 teaspoon grated grapefruit peel, 1 shallot minced, 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar, 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar, ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ olive oil.
Now to prepare this grapefruit diet recipe you want to separate the lettuce leaves, arrange on separate serving dishes, and evenly distribute grapefruit sections and the crab meat on the lettuce. Make sure that you arrange it so it looks pleasing to the eye, because this will make people want to eat it even more.
Now you drizzle some of the grapefruit dressing over top and it is ready to serve. To prepare the dressing it is the grapefruit peel, shallot, white wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar, and salt together and you can add more salt if it is too bland.
