Good Grains

Carbohydrates are often considered diet evils and some diets completely cut them out. This is a bad idea as once you start eating carbohydrates again you will see the weight come back quicker than you lost it. Whole grains are the best source of carbohydrates, besides being a source of fiber whole grains also help o make you feel full even when you eat small quantities of whole grains.

You should be eating five ounces of whole grains a day. These healthy diet foods are equivalent to once ounce: a half cup of cooked rice, pasta, or cereal, one slice of whole meal bread, one cup of breakfast cereal. Make sure that the grains you choose are whole grains such as brown rice, whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, oats, and barley. Many people make the mistake of choosing the wrong grains; grains that have been processed have fewer nutrients and are not considered healthy diet food.
